Public consultation on ambitious plans for Wrexham’s High Street
A public consultation on ambitious plans for Wrexham’s High Street are set to get underway this autumn.
The designs, which are yet to have been made public, are believed to include adapting the space on the High Street to allow for bars and restaurants to use the area for outdoor seating.
Changes to the streetscene which would make the entire road a single level with roadways marked out in different tarmac – much like modern city centres across the world – are also being proposed.
Additional greenery via trees and moveable planters is also expected to take place to create a more attractive leisure and eating space in what will be one of the most significant changes to the fabric of High Street in possibly a century.
We asked Wrexham Council for clarification on the plans – such as tree planting and the creation of a ‘continental style’ space for the bars and restaurants.
Wrexham Council did not comment on the plans but confirmed that a consultation will take place later this autumn.
A spokesperson said: “A public consultation on the High Street is set to start in October and run for three weeks.
“During this period potential plans will be on display allowing both the public and businesses to speak with officers and provide their ideas and feedback.
“We will also be consulting online via ‘Your Voice’ consultation portal.”
