Members of the public are being invited to take part in a consultation on what services should be provided at the new Crown Buildings development.

The building is set to become a Community Health and Wellbeing facility, and we would like your input and knowledge to shape it.

Built in the 1960s, the four storey building had been described as “no longer fit for purpose” – with a “number of leaks” in recent years with staff “decanted” elsewhere due to the issues.

However as part of the refurbishment works the ground floor of the building will be turned into Wrexham’s new ‘Community Health and Wellbeing facility.’

With the help of funding from the Welsh Government, the space will provide integrated health, social care, third sector and community services.

The aim is to make it easier for people, families and carers of all ages to access information, advice and support.

Wrexham’s Community Health and Wellbeing facility is a partner project between Wrexham Council, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and AVOW, and will “build on, rather than duplicate” services that are already available in Wrexham town centre and other local areas.

The space will act as the central location for a range of accessible facilities, allowing people and families with wide ranging support needs to become more involved with community services as well as having easy access to preventative information and advice.

Now SWS (Standards of Wrexham Services) have produced a questionnaire in conjunction with residents and service users with support needs.

The Questionnaire contains the following questions:

  • What things are good for people with disabilities in Wrexham?
  • What would you like to see more of?
  • What is missing for people with disabilities in Wrexham?
  • How do you think we (Wrexham Council) could we do better?
  • What should we (Wrexham Council) do next?

Cllr Joan Lowe, Lead Member for Adult Social Care, said: “It’s really important to get input from the community who will be using the building so it can be planned to best suit everyone’s needs.”

The to standard version of the questionnaire can be found here here. The link to easy read version can be found here
