Over 80 new houses could be developed on disused land in Gwersyllt if planning proposals are passed.

In an outline planning application submitted to Wrexham Council, it is proposed 85 houses are erected on land at Westminster Industrial Estate on Mold Road, Gwersyllt.

If proposals are passed the development will consist of a mixture of two bedroom apartments and three and four bedroom houses.

Associated parking facilities comprising parking spaces for residents, pedestrian access routes and servicing and ‘structured’ low maintenance landscaping.

Access to the site would be provided by the existing entrance on Mold Road, however it also proposed that a new footpath is that would follow the entire length of the access route from Mold Road is created to allow safe access for pedestrians.

In the application’s Supporting Documents it notes: “Westminster Industrial Estate is bound by a belt of woodland planting surrounding the site and in the immediate landscape residential developments to the east and west of the site, commercial properties to the south and green space to the north.”

The site was formally used as an industrial estate and a number of buildings remain in place, however the land has remained vacant for several years.

It is hoped that developing housing on the plot of land will help visually enhance the site and create ‘a natural addition to the wider context within Gwersyllt’.

There is currently no set date for the application to go before Wrexham’s Planning Committee.
