A former Wrexham youth club could be converted into a residential dwelling if planning proposals are passed.

In an application submitted to Wrexham Council it is recommended that the former Brynteg Youth Club, just off Brynisa Road, Brynteg, Wrexham is converted into a three bedroom residential property.

The building, which is described as being in a state of ‘disrepair’ in the planning application is currently vacant. However if proposals are passed it is hoped the property would ‘create a new three bedroom family home’.

Both internal and external changes are proposed for the building with a single storey structure at the front of the building to be demolished. A new front door and canopy will also be added to the building.

Internally a single garage, utility, study, WC, lounge, WC and a central open plan kitchen and dining area are proposed; along with three bedrooms and a bathroom.

Commenting on the completed changes, the application’s Design and Access Statement notes: “The completed building will result in a dwelling that makes best use of the existing space, but also provides a modern, spacious, sustainable family home that is in-keeping with the form and character of the existing building and the dwellings that surround it.”

The planning documents conclude: “The applicant proposes to create a new three bedroom family home from an existing disused building that is falling into disrepair. The conversion of the building will provide the most sustainable solution for the site as the fabric of the building can be retained. There is also adequate space around the existing building to provide enough private amenity and parking area.”

The application is expected to go before Wrexham’s Planning Committee at a later date.
