There has been praise overnight for the prompt action that saw travellers vacate Garden Village last night.

Residents of Garden Village have been in touch to comment on the prompt action taken by Wrexham Council, and in particular praise for the local Councillor Andy Williams.

Overnight the Council’s Street Scene team cleaned up the site, although we are told it was left in ‘reasonable’ condition.

Cllr Andy Williams, Local Member for Garden Village, said: “The response from our officers and partners has been outstanding and I would like to say a very big thank you to all involved in this very successful operation.

“The unauthorised site was cleared within 48 hours and officers went above and beyond their duties to ensure this was the case. The help given by the police to assist and ease the discontent in the community was also very much appreciated.”

Cllr Mark Pritchard, Leader of Wrexham Council, said: “I am delighted to say that the Traveller’s who set up an unauthorised site near Wat’s Dyke School have now left the site and the area has been cleared.

“I would like to thank all those involved with this matter for their swift and satisfactory response. Unauthorised encampments will not be tolerated in Wrexham and we will always do what we can to ensure they are removed at the earliest possible opportunity.”
