A Wrexham.com reader has been in touch to say they are currently without power – along with many other houses in the Johnstown area.

Mr Burns said “I called Scottish Power who informed me they are aware and that 960 homes are affected. Power went off around 10.30 and repair due to complete around 12.30.”

Scottish Power told him the issue related to ‘switching’. It appears an overhead cable was cut accidently just after 10:30am

He said “I work from home so this is an inconvenience but more concerned about anyone with young children or people who rely on power for medical equipment.”

Update Midday:
Customers are now being told “Our engineers are now on site and will confirm the reports of third-party damage in the area. they will also assess the damage caused and the type of repair required. We would now expect to have your supplies restored by 13:30. Please unplug all electrical equipment if it is safe for you to do so and switch off any gas central heating boilers. We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. If you require any further assistance please call 08452722424.

Scottish Power is now saying only 70 homes remain affected.
