Police issue dispersal order to tackle “youth-related antisocial behaviour” in Bradley and Gwersyllt
A Dispersal Order will be in effect in Gwersyllt and Bradley areas this weekend, following an increase in youth-related anti-social behaviour.
Police say the move has been prompted by an escalation in reports of ASB, criminal damage and public order offences in recent weeks.
A number of youths have been identified in being involved in recent incidents, with one subsequently charged with a public order offence last weekend.
The Dispersal Order will come into effect at 5.30pm on Friday, 18 February and will remain in place until 5.30pm on Sunday, 20 February.
The order allows police officers to remove persons where they have reasonable grounds to suspect that the behaviour of the person in the locality has contributed or is likely to contribute to—
(a) members of the public in the locality being harassed, alarmed or distressed, or
(b) the occurrence in the locality of crime or disorder.
Wrexham Rural Acting Inspector Geraint Richards said: “The behaviour of these groups of youths is totally unacceptable.
“Those involved are aged of 12–16, so I would urge all parents to make sure they know where their children are during the evenings.
“The way these youths are behaving could not only have a serious effect on them now but also could hinder their futures.
“I would also like to reassure the residents of Gwersyllt and ask them to call 101 if there are any incidents in the area.”
