PMQs: PM Sunak says Wrexham’s MP put Wrexham on the map after years of decline
Wrexham had a mention during Prime Minister Questions today in Westminster.
Wrexham’s MP Sarah Atherton took her chance to quiz the Prime Minister asking, “After decades of a Labour MP Wrexham was known as spice town, but not anymore in the last four years, we’ve become a city with £160 million investment zone, £20 million town fund, £23 million Shared Prosperity Fund and soon to have the largest industrial estate in Europe with more jobs than job seekers, we have secured the future of Hightown barracks, and Hollywood has boosted our football club.
“Would the Prime Minister agree with me it is this Conservative MP and this Conservative Government that has delivered for Wrexham?”
The PM Rishi Sunak replied, “My honorable friend has been an excellent campaigner for Wrexham, putting it on the map after years of decline under the Labour Party. The heart of Wales’s investment zones, with our plan for towns helping to regenerate the local high street and improve public safety and I can tell my honorable friends, with such a great campaigner like herself, the next five years will only look brighter for Wrexham.”
