Playworkers in Wrexham have been using their time during lockdown the transform reclaimed wood into benches and planters for outdoor spaces across the Plas Madoc estate.

Although closed since March, The Land Adventure Playground is being used by members of the team to develop new ways to enhance the health and well-being of local families by enhancing opportunities at home.

Recognising the importance of staying home and staying safe playworkers have received the wood from local businesses and crafted bespoke benches and planters for residents who need them to enjoy their outside areas.

All the items are unique and made with the recipient in mind.

One recipient of the wooden furniture, said: ‘We’re ever so grateful, we sit out here all the time now.

“I’ve never gardened before but now I’m out here every morning watering and dead heading.

“I wanted to make my garden nice and that’s all because of our bench, table and planter. If people get even half the use from their bench that me and my girls have had they’ll be very happy.”

The benches have also allowed further access to outdoor spaces for children and their families to be in the fresh air and create space to relax.

Alongside planters which have encouraged residents to take-up gardening and built-upon the work of The Land’s Garden Gang.
