Plans to increase number of houses that can be built on Chirk site approved
Plans to increase the number of houses that can be built on land in Chirk have been given the go ahead.
Planning permission for the development of 22 houses land north of Station Avenue was allowed on appeal last summer after initially being rejected by planning committee members.
At the time there were concerns that the plans would result in the loss of two protected trees in the Chirk Conservation Area.
Earlier this week councillors were asked to give the go ahead to an additional two properties on the site, despite the local community council arguing that the maximum 22 units should be adhered to.
During the meeting Chirk North councillor Frank Hemmings, questioned why the plans show a footpath to the nearby recreational ground, noting that they applicants haven’t secured permission to do so.
Planning officer David Williams said it was a separate matter to be sorted between the developer and the community council.
However he added that “from a planning perspective we would want to encourage it “due to “safety of children having convenient access”.
The plans to increase the number of properties by an additional two on the site were approved unanimously by councillors.
