A former community centre could soon be demolished to make way for a new apartment block.

The centre, located on Eaton Drive in Caia Park, has been vacant since 2017.

However new proposals submitted to Wrexham Council seek permission to demolish the building and use the site to build a block of one and two bedroom apartments.

Plans show that the apartments would be over three floors, with six two bedroom apartments on the ground floor, a further six one and two bedroom apartments on the first floor and four one bedroom apartments on the second floor.

Details submitted for consideration by D2 Architects say that that the proposed building would be “sympathetically designed and laid out over the site” – with the existing access retained.

Accompanying documents continue onto say: “Our approach to this project is to simplify and look to retain design in its purest form, simply solving a given problem, by looking to strop back the existing site.

“We believe opportunities exist within the site, the opportunity to develop a unique solution.

“Through considered design we will look to provide a solution which is sympathetic, a scheme which will facilitate the growing and ever-changing needs of its users. To embrace and incorporate sustainable solutions within an existing site and to retail the site’s character yet embrace its 21st century use.”

The application will be considered for approval at a later date.
