Proposals to turn a former Subway store in the town centre into a Moroccan themed restaurant have been approved.

The application for the redevelopment of the vacant unit on 7 High Street was submitted to Wrexham Council in January.

Documents due before planning committee members on Monday May 10th show that the proposals have been approved via a delegated decision by Lawrence Isted, chief officer planning and regulatory.

Plans included turning the space into a Moroccan theme/style authentic bar and restaurant”, with extra work detailed as including: “Construction of further iron railings in compliance with current safety standards around the glazed skylight and any exposed or unsafe areas surrounding the roof space”.

The proposed layout of the property includes a waiting and seating area, along with a beer garden and smoking area.

The 665 square foot unit has been derelict since Subway left, and appears to have recently been successfully marketed by estate agents Legat Owen.

The redevelopment of the property into an eatery is amongst several others to have taken place on High Street in recent months.
