Plans for ‘Pepe’s Piri Piri’ takeaway and restaurant approved by council
Plans for a new takeaway and restaurant on the outskirts of Wrexham city centre have been given the go ahead.
Wrexham Council’s chief planning officer, David Fitzsimon, approved the proposals to install new signage on unit two at Regent House, on Regent Street.
The plans were submitted by the company behind ‘Pepe’s Piri Piri’ in July.
The application included the installation of four new fascia signs and one projecting sign, which will display the company’s logo, website details and phone number.
Feedback on the plans was provided by the local authority’s conservation officer, who requested the use of discreet external downlight illumination, instead of internal illumination, the removal of projecting sign and the provision of a colour sample to avoid overly harsh, bright colour shades.
No objections to the plans were submitted by the council’s highways department.
Pepe’s is described as the “home of fresh home-grilled chicken” and specialises in burgers, burritos, nachos, chicken wings and quesadillas.
The company already operates several similar eateries across the UK, with Wrexham one of 11 new stores set to open in the coming months.
Other locations due to open include Rhyl, Liverpool, Shrewsbury, Caerphilly and Newport.
Pepe’s will be the second takeaway to operate in Regent House, with Papa John’s having opened its first Wrexham store in the building several years ago.
