Plans approved to convert former village Post Office into flats
Plans to convert a former village Post Office into residential flats have been given the go ahead.
In September Wrexham.com reported that an application for the vacant building, on New High Street, in Ruabon had been submitted.
The property has sat empty since the start of the year following a takeover from retail giant Morrisons, which identified it as one of 132 loss-making stores ‘where there is no realistic prospect of achieving a breakeven position’
The village recently regained its Post Office service with a facility opening at Ruabon Discount Stores, on New High Street.
As part of the plans submitted to Wrexham Council, which have been approved by Chief Officer Economy and Planning David Fitzsimon, the first and second floor of the building will be converted into flats.
The two floors were previously used as storage space for the McColls and Post Office.
The now approved plans include a two bedroom flat on the first floor, along with an open plan kitchen, dining and living area.
A similar layout will be replicated on the second floor.
In terms of parking and bin storage the proposals state that the yard at the rear of the building is owned by the applicant and will be used as parking provision
