Hold off filling your tank if you can, as there could be fuel savings to be had at the pump over the coming days!

Asda are cutting their prices of fuel saying you won’t pay more than 110.7 pence per litre for unleaded petrol or 117.7 pence per litre on diesel as of tomorrow.

Tesco quickly responded saying that they too were cutting their petrol prices by 2p and diesel prices by 1p.

Peter Cattell, Fuel Director for Tesco said: “We’re dropping the cost of petrol by 2p and diesel by 1p at all of our 500 filling stations.

ASDA’s PR statement said : “We’re giving drivers an early Christmas present as fuel prices continue to fall.”

Sainsbury’s have also said they will lower the price of unleaded by 2 pence per litre and diesel by 1 pence per litre at all of their respective forecourts.

Above is the crude oil price graph for the last two years, showing the plunge in price lately, credited in part for the drop in pricing.

Even at £1.10 a litre of unleaded, VAT is roughly 18p and Fuel Duty at 58p leaving the cost of actual fuel around 29p with the remaining few pence covering delivery costs and the like.
