A support session to help those who run community centres reopen safely is to take place this week.

The Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham (AVOW) will host the Zoom briefing on Thursday 20 August at 9:30am.

It comes after the Welsh Government announced changes in the community centres can to reopen for the first time since March 2020.

The online session will go through the guidance associated with re-opening the buildings, share best practice and network between community centres in the local area.

Management committees are also being urged to take note of the announcement from the First Minister 14 August about the size of extended households and restrictions that will apply to indoor gatherings.

Mike Jones Chair of a local community building said, “We have now been given a lifeline to open our building- these last few months has been very worrying with no income but some ongoing expenses.”

John Gallanders, Chief Officer of AVOW, said “Whilst the move is very welcome committees need to ensure that they have taken all necessary precautions to make their buildings safe.

“AVOW have held a couple of briefing sessions to help representatives share their experiences and another is being held next week.”

The next briefing session will take place on Thursday 20th August 2020, at 9:30 am. To book a place onto the next briefing session please follow the Zoom link here.
