Travellers remain on Rhosddu skate park today, after being moved from two separate locations in Wrexham yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday afternoon the travellers were moved from Wickes Car park, before moving to ‘The Dunks’ behind the Queensway Stadium in Caia Park. However shortly before 6pm, Community Sergeant Wesley Williams tweeted to say that the caravans had been moved from the area.

Since being removed from ‘The Dunks’ the travellers have moved to the skate park in Rhosddu and have remained there over night. When Wrexham.com popped down to Rhosddu skate park this morning, there were still eight caravans located on the site.

One person who lives near the area told Wrexham.com this morning: “Locals are fearful of damage and crime to nearby properties, and may look to resolve the issue themselves allegedly if the police and Council do not move them on.”

Another person commented on the Wrexham.com Facebook page saying the travellers are rumoured to be on holiday in the town, with police patrolling the area throughout the night. It was also mentioned that local Councillor I. David Bithell had been visiting homes to offer reassurance.

We contacted Wrexham Council this morning, who said: “Wrexham Council officers have met with officers from North Wales Police and BCUHB and local member Councillor I David Bithell to discuss the unauthorised site in Rhosddu.

“The next step will be to undertake necessary assessments and all options available will be discussed at a further meeting early next week. No immediate action can be taken until these assessments have been undertaken.”
