A defibrillator has been stolen from a phone box on Pant Lane in Gresford.

The theft has been reported to police, and is believed to have occurred in the last 24 hours.

Such defibrillator installations can cost in the region of £2000.

Local Councillor Andrew Atkinson told us: “This is just unbelievable and despicable. The community council has worked hard to deliver this and the defibrillator was due to be connected soon.

“Someone has not just stolen the unit but actually taken something away that could save a life.

“If you know anything about it please call 101 and let the police know.”

Earlier this week Cllr Atkinson tweeted a picture of the newly painted phone box, complete with the defibrillator inside. The recently renovated phone box is also due to house other community information, as well as a defibrillator.
