A series of improvement works to help enhance the general appearance of Wrexham town centre will begin next month.

Almost £500,000 will be spent on the town centre, after executive board members unanimously backed proposals in July 2017 to allocate £270,000 to town centre improvements after a budget underspend.

An additional £150,000 for further improvements was announced in October 2017.

Last month Wrexham.com reported that work painting streetlights across the town centre ahead of replacement LED lightbulbs being installed, had begun.

At Monday’s Town Centre Forum meeting, Town Centre, Markets and Events Manager, Amanda Davies explained that further improvements will begin on July 16th.

Such changes include new street paving, with works beginning at Queens Street. New benches and bins will also be installed – with the meeting told there are currently “eight different types of bin in the town centre”!

Amanda added: “We will try to limit the impact on local businesses and no doorway will be blocked.

“We must bear in mind that the work are down the centre of this street and we are working will all businesses.”
