A mobile RSPCA animal welfare clinic is now operating in Wrexham.

The veterinary clinic is run by five RSPCA branches – Aberconwy Branch, Anglesey Branch, Clwyd & Colwyn Branch, West Gwynedd Branch and Wrexham District & Deeside Branch – and is funded entirely by donations and the fundraising efforts of volunteers.

The clinic, which is staffed by a veterinary surgeon and volunteers, visits eight venues every week and offers subsidised veterinary treatment to low-income pet owners, offering one to two hour surgeries.

Volunteer and events officer for RSPCA Wrexham District & Deeside Branch, Dylan Evans, said the branch were delighted for a session to be introduced to Wrexham.

He said: “The clinic really does make a difference to pet owners who are struggling to pay vet bills and we are very proud to be involved and bring this service to the people of Wrexham and Deeside.

“As well as our session at Deeside, we’re delighted to see a session start at Wrexham to help even more pet owners in the area.

“We welcome anyone who needs to access this service to come along and find out more about the clinic.

“We just ask those who would like to access the service to bring proof of their benefits and that all treatments are paid for at the time of consultation.”

The Wrexham mobile veterinary clinic opens 10am to midday every Friday at the Pentre Gwyn Community Centre, Abenbury Road, LL13 OQR.

RSPCA Wrexham District & Deeside Branch is one of more than 160 branch charities supporting the local work of RSPCA Inspectors across England and Wales, and are responsible for raising funds locally to support their animal welfare work.

Run by a small group of volunteers the branch aims to promote responsible pet ownership through vaccination, neutering, microchipping and welfare assistance.

Dylan added: “We would love to hear from anyone who would like to become involved in our work and as ever we always are very thankful and grateful for any donations – which all go back into the community to support animal welfare.”
