A bookshop in Wrexham has been given a revamp after a significant investment was made to the Regent Street shop.

Waterstones on Regent Street has been treated to a face lift this month, with significant investment made by the book retailer into structural repairs to the shop front and a striking new fascia design.

The bookshop’s interior has already undergone a transformation, with some of the more bulky shelving units removed over the summer, making the shop easier to navigate and browse and freeing up space for inspiring table displays.

Bookshop Manager Ged Armstrong says: “This investment is testament to the confidence our company has both in our bookshop and in Wrexham’s high street. The restoration work to the shopfront and the structural improvements to the interior have transformed the building. It’s such good news for all of us who work, shop and browse here, and all of us can now look forward to a really good Christmas.”

Over the festive period the revamped Waterstones will also play host to a very busy events programme, with a number of book signings taking place throughout December and the remainder of November.

From now until Monday 15th December shoppers young and old are being invited to give the bookshop a festive makeover by illustrating a sleigh-full of blank Christmas decorations that will then be displayed around the shop, with prizes on offer for the best designs.

From midday on Saturday 29th November, Fiona Collins will be in the bookshop to sign copies of her enchanting volume of Wrexham County Folk Tales (The History Press £9.99), a fantastic Christmas gift for lovers of local folklore. On 11th December Hwyel Gwnfryn will be instore from 11am to 12pm to sign copies of Ryan and Ronnie (Gomer Press £9.99), his fascinating profile of the legendary double act and on 13th December from 11.30am novelist David Ebsworth will be signing copies of his carefully-researched historical tale The Last Campaign of Marianne Tambour.

On December 6th between 1pm and 3pm, New York Times bestselling author Paula Brackston will be visiting the shop on 6th December from 1pm to 3pm to sign copies of her new book The Midnight Witch (Corsair £7.99). Thanks to the popularity of the writer with Wrexham’s readers, the Regent Street shop has sold more copies of Brackston’s previous book The Winter Witch (Corsair £7.99) than any other branch of Waterstones.

On Thursday 11th December between 11am and 2pm Hwyel Gwnfryn will also be in store signing copies of Ryan and Ronnie. This will be followed by David Ebsworth, who will be signing copies of The Last Days of Marianne Tambour: A Novel of Waterloo on Saturday December 13th (from 11am)
