A route previously run by a now-closed bus operator will be partly covered by a new Arriva Buses service from the New Year.

From Sunday January 7th 2018, a new commercial service will partly replace the former No 6 service route which was operated by D Jones & Son until the company’s closure over the weekend.

Wrexham.com reported earlier this month about the launch of the new No 4 service that would operate hourly from 6.38am to 5.38pm, running via Morrison’s, Bryn Offa Estate, Bersham, Pentrebychan Crematorium, Johnstown Gutter Hill and Rhos to Penycae, from January 7th.

Today it was also confirmed that a new No 4A service would operate hourly from 7.08am to 6.08pm, running via Rhostyllen, Nant park Estate, Moreton Estate, Sryt Las and Rhos to Afoneitha Estate. This will also launch on Sunday 7th January

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport at Wrexham Council, said: “I’m pleased to note that this new service will start in the New Year and provide some cover for the communities affected.

“However, we are aware that the new service will not completely connect all of those areas previously covered by the Number 6 bus operated by D Jones & Son, and with that in mind we continue to secure further provision for those areas, as part of our bus service contingency plan.

Further information on the new 4 and 4a services, including routes and timetables can be found on Arriva’s website.
