Yesterday saw the start of National Adoption Week 2013.

To mark this year’s National Adoption Week, the North Wales Adoption Service will be holding adoption information sessions across all six counties in North Wales for anyone interested in becoming an adopters.

In Wrexham the event will take place between 2 pm and 7 pm at the Wynnstay Hotel in the town centre on 8 November.

Lead Member for Children’s Services and Education, Cllr Michael Williams, said: “Adoption is a lifelong commitment and our children need permanent, stable and caring families.

“Many have had a challenging start to life and they deserve the chance to live a happy and fulfilled childhood. I would encourage anyone who has thought about becoming an adopter to pay a visit to the event on 8 November to get the information they need and also have answers to their questions.”

There is no upper age limit to adoption and if you are over 21, have a stable lifestyle with a strong support network and nurturing ability, you could become an adoptive parent. Whether you are married, in a civil partnership, single or living with a partner, you are potentially eligible to adopt and you do not have to own your own home.
