‘Mystery’ police convoys have been seen travelling across Wrexham today – with a number of people getting in touch to query what they have been doing.

Earlier this morning several police bikes and cars were seen escorting a vehicle down Chester Road and into town. Since then a number of people have been in touch reporting similar sightings around the Wrexham area.

Despite strong local rumours that Vladimir Putin or Jeb Bush had been paying a visit to Wrexham, the police convoys seen earlier today were as a result of a training course.

Last month North Wales Police released a statement saying: “The Press Office have had many recent calls about a police convoy travelling all over North Wales” referring to a driving course. The officers involved are trained to the highest standard by or Driving School based at Police HQ in Colwyn Bay” – with the above picture also released.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police also confirmed that similar courses will be taking place throughout the week – so keep an eye out!
