People were awoken in Hightown this morning to a series of ‘loud bangs’ as cars exploded, with the area appearing to be targeted by car arson again.

Wrexham.com is currently aware of four cars damaged or destroyed in the current fire attack, with other unconfirmed incidents also being referenced by residents. Below shows the mixture of smoke and blue lights that people awoke to:

One speaking about their family car said: “It happened at 5:30am. The car exploded.”

Another told us they heard a ‘loud bang this morning at 6.45am’ as a car near their property exploded.

The car fires appear again to be focused in Hightown, with reports of fires set in Stuarts Way just off Norman Road to Waterloo Close just off Stockwell Grove.

The fire service attended four incidents, Waterloo Close, Saxon Street and Hillbury Road all within half an hour.

We are told the fire service was on scene until around 7:30-8am this morning.

Back in June six vehicles were set alight in a very similar area to todays incident, including Waterloo Close.
