Mobile network issues in Wrexham have returned to the area, despite appearing to have improved earlier on this year.

Over the past few days we have had several people contact us regarding issues with mobile network and 3G issues, with many stating that despite having full signal they are unable to use the internet or apps.

Signal / network issues initially began back in May of this year, with over 230 comments left on the Wrexham.com Forums regarding the problems. The thread has since been viewed over 18,000 times.

Over the past couple of months the issues seemed to have been resolved, with 3G coverage and signal speeding slightly in the town centre.

However over the past few days several people have contacted Wrexham.com stating that the 3G and network issues have seemingly returned. Problems seem to be spanned across many of the ‘big’ mobile networks, although EE and Three appear to have been two of the networks that have been affected the most.

Last night a number of people commented on how the ongoing network issues in Wrexham have had an impact on their businesses. Dom Gallagher told Wrexham.com that he had to take ‘business meetings to Chester’, while ‘Vinegar Gaga’ on Twitter said they are also ‘struggling to conduct business in the town centre due to data outages’.

Ruabon Community First Responders have also been in touch with Wrexham.com saying: ” Our Ambulance phones are on O2, our navigators are on 3, today in town full despite full signal we had no connection on Three, O2 was fine.”

The problem was also raised by Alex Jones from The Bank at this week’s Town Centre Forum Meeting, who described the problems as ‘being back in the dark ages’.

Yesterday we contacted both Three and EE with several town centre postcodes that had been experiencing particular problems.

A spokesperson for Three told Wrexham.com: “We are aware that some customers in the Wrexham area may be experiencing problems with a local mast and we apologise for this inconvenience. We’re investigating and will fix as soon as possible.”

We have also contacted EE and are currently awaiting comment.
