Shoppers leaving things to the very last minute for Christmas are flocking into Wrexham this morning to finish off their lists and perhaps pick up a bargain along the way.

Yesterday there was a noticeable increase in town centre footfall and the same was true over at Eagles Meadow, where the car park was near full!

Earlier on in the day things were quiet over at Marks & Spencer where only a handful of customers were reported. However by midday the food aisles were full, turkeys were dwindling in numbers and queues were building. Over at Asda, turkey crowns had sold out around lunchtime and in Tesco the fresh vegetable stocks had considerably reduced once the early shoppers had been in. We didn’t make it over to Sainsbury’s, but ‘Dave’ on Twitter (@v4dwj) reported ‘chaos’ in their car park in the late afternoon. Kevin (@kevhanmer) further confirmed that after having to wait 45 minutes in the Sainsbury’s car park!

Another Dave, Dave Conner, didn’t seem to think there was any real difference to a usual weekend:-

This was the scene over at Eagles Meadow around 2PM:-

In the event Christmas Eve does turn out to be busier than expected keep an eye on our Twitter account (@wrexham) and we’ll do our best to make sure you avoid the queues and traffic. :)
