Mayoral costs have been revealed today giving overview figures to the price of the Mayor and associated office.

In an email seen by Wrexham.com it’s revealed that the information has been made available to Councillors since the 24th September, however for some unstated reason they have only been made public today.

Requests for information by Wrexham Council appear to have been initially deflected by pointing them via Freedom of Information requests. This was corrected when it was pointed out by Councillors requesting the information that they have a right under the Council Constitution to the information. Some information is still likely to be provided to third parties via FOI however some of the figures do appear to differ, with the budgets being pubically quoted being £265 different.

The questions answered around two weeks ago include:

1. Total cost of the role of the Mayor including Deputy Mayor and Mayoress :
The total Civic Budget for 2013/14 is £138,613. This is inclusive of all associated costs, including support staff and Mayoral / Deputy Allowances.

2. Cost of all staff, driver and back room staff and administration:
The total Budget figure for 2013/14 amounts to £96,721. This includes the salary costs of a manager, administration support and Mayoral Attendant.

3. Cost of running Cars including fuel, tax and insurance.
The budget for 2013/14 is £9,405 inclusive of lease costs, fuel and maintenance.

4. Cost of Flowers and stationery
The budget for 2013/14 is £1,149.

5. Cost of function hire and rooms etc and visits including allowances.
The budget for 2013/14 is £20,211, again inclusive of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor Allowances which, as by law the Council have to have a Chairman and Vice Chair of the Council would be incurred irrespective of whether the mayoralty existed or not.

You can view the member allowances on this page on the council website, which also states the Mayor gets an allowance of £21,375 and the Deputy Mayor £16,625.
