A man is in a serious condition in hospital after falling from a bridge on the A483 in Wrexham this morning.

The dual carriageway was shut by police between the Wrexham and Gresford junctions 5 and 6 at around 5am whilst they carried out scene enquiries.

The New Road bridge in Rhosddu where the man fell from was closed too with diversions put in place.

Local reports suggested he may have threatened to jump from the bridge.

North Wales Police said that the male involved is currently being treated in hospital where his condition is described serious
