Man arrested for wasting police time in Rhosnesni
A man has been arrested after a ‘hoax’ call was made this morning.
Police vehicles and multiple officers on foot responded to a call that youths were ‘behaving suspiciously and anti-socially around Ffordd Dyfed’, off Borras Road.
Police were seen searching on Camberley Drive, Rhosnesni Lane and Borras Road around 10:30am.
However the report was a ‘hoax’.
Police say a man has been arrested for wasting police time, and also a public order offence.
Update: Later this afternoon PC Thomas Hough tweeted the following regarding hoax calls, and resources used locally to respond to this incident…
(1/2) A male youth has been arrested this morning in @wrexham for Mis-use of the 999 system, from the call made 3 double crewed cars were sent to a scene which wasn't required, 6 officers who were taken away from other duties/emergencies!!This is totally unacceptable… @NWPolice pic.twitter.com/rtkSpBa9HW

(2/2)We do not have the resources to be sending 6officers to something where they are not required, hoax calls cost lives & someone could be trying to get through for a real emergency! Luckily this was not the case & he male is still in custody waiting to be interviewed @wrexham pic.twitter.com/nRKwi4EbIZ
