Over a month’s worth of maintenance work at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct has begun.

While the work is undertaken at the World Heritage Site, there will be closures in place between Monday 8th January until Friday 9th February.

As a result the aqueduct will be closed to pedestrians at all times and will be closed to boats Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm. However it will be open before and after these times during daylight hours and will remain open on Saturdays and Sundays.

A statement released by Wrexham Council explains that closures are in place to “protect the public whilst the maintenance works are undertaken safely by the Canal and River Trust and we’d like to thank you for your patience whilst they take place.”
