A long-standing work opportunity volunteer team member at a local cafe has celebrated his 60th birthday.

Colin Brentnall has worked at Caffi Cyfle at Alyn Waters since it first opened 15 years ago.

The cafe has been operated by local charity Groundwork North Wales since April 2019 who continue to support the volunteer work opportunities team members.

Staff from the charity Groundwork North Wales wanted to celebrate this milestone with Colin and thank him for his hard work at the cafe.

Adrian Thomas venue manager for the café and function room was helped by Ben Lloyd and Helen Hughes to bake a three-layer birthday cake. Lesley Roberts Colin’s sister also came down to join in the celebrations along with the café team.

“Colin loves coming to work here at Alyn Waters,” said Lesley.

“Being part of the team has really brought him out of himself. He even tells us what to do at home with the recycling as that’s part of his job here.”

The name Caffi Cyfle means Café of Opportunity which Groundwork North Wales feels embodies the cafés aspiration to continue to be a place where individuals with learning difficulties get to learn new skills and experiences.
