An appeal has been launched after racist graffiti was painted on a wall in Johnstown.

Police say the incident took place overnight.

Local Police Community Support officers are in the area carrying out enquiries.

Cllr David A Bithell, who represents the Johnstown ward, has condemned the vandals and said such actions are not welcome in any community in Wrexham.

He also urged residents not to share images of the graffiti online.

Cllr Bithell said: “We had a report late last night where inappropriate graffiti was painted on a wall in Johnstown.

“I have been liaising with the police and the council to cover this graffiti over.

“Please do not share if you have pictures as this is inappropriate and is not welcome in Johnstown or any community in Wrexham.

“The police have been carrying out door to door activity and are taking the matter very seriously.”
