A local councillor has raised concerns over the future of a village bus service following recent diversions.

Arriva’s service 14 which serves Tanyfron has been frequently diverted via College Hill resulting in buses missing out the majority of stops throughout the village.

Comments from drivers and posts on social media have suggested there have been issues as a result of parked cars.

Cllr Paul Rogers says he has requested an urgent meeting with Arriva to discuss the problem after being informed that Arriva have made the changes permanent.

Commenting on the situation he said: “Over the past week I have received a number of complaints about Arriva Buses service 14 not serving Tanyfron.

“It is my understanding that on some occasions there have been problems with parked vehicles resulting in buses diverting via College Hill which I have witnessed personally.

“I have contacted both Arriva Customer Services and Wrexham Depot to clarify their position and also requested an urgent meeting to discuss the situation.

“It is a problem, the area wasn’t built for the amount of vehicles parked on the road and I’ve witnessed first hand the problems drivers face when they can’t get through. I’ve also witnessed the grief drivers have received on occasion from frustrated passengers when buses are diverted”

“As the council have no power over the setting of bus routes the decision unfortunately is Arriva’s however both myself and Wrexham Council officers are willing to work with them to see if there are any solutions to keep a bus service through the village.”

“Both myself and community councillor Derek Griffiths will be working together on this keep residents updated with any developments.”
