It’s whisks and flour at the ready as preparations are complete for the first ever Wrexham Bake Off.

There will (hopefully!) be no soggy bottoms tomorrow evening when 22 hopeful bakers in Wrexham will rise to the occasion and fight it out for the title of ‘Star Baker’.

Organised by Andrew Atkinson and Alex Jones, the first ever Wrexham Bake Off will take place at the Bank Bar in Wrexham Town Centre.

The 22 bakers, which feature a mix of professional bakers, local business owners and residents will present their drizzle cakes to Wrexham’s very own Mayor of Wrexham ‘Mayor’y Berry.

Bakers will pay £5 to enter and will bake a drizzle cake of their choosing to the bar on the evening.

All of the bakers have been asked to provide a short video or photos to show off their skills in the kitchen, promote their business and give an insight into the baking process!

Spectators on the evening can pay £1 a slice to eat the cake with all funds raised going to Nightingale House Hospice and kindly match funded by Natwest Bank.

“We’ve had lots of entries, loads of generous raffle prizes, Natwest supporting it financially and people excited about attending.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase amazing businesses and individuals from in and around Wrexham and to bring everyone together.

“Alex and I are grateful to everyone and hope that this can be an annual event.”

During the event people can tweet using the hashtag #WrexhamhourGBBO
