Helping to ensure that bicycles stay in the hands of their rightful owners will be one of the key aims of two special Crime Prevention days to be held in Llandegla Forest.

On Sunday July 26th and again on Saturday August 8th, PC Hazel Goss and colleagues will be at Coed Llandegla speaking to cyclists and offering free bike marking.

“North Wales Police has reduced bicycle crime by 43% since 2012 when we launched Bicycle Watch working alongside Bike Register,” said PC Goss of Community Safety Department. “We want to reduce this crime further and hope to partly achieve this by holding such prevention days as planned in Llandegla. The events are aimed at providing crime prevention advice and information on bicycle tagging devices, property marking kits and security equipment.”

“We will be offering free bike etching and will be using some of the latest security marking equipment to try and help ensure that if a bike is ever stolen it can be re-united quickly with its owner. Advice on home and shed security and other crime prevention tips on anything that is associated with bikes will also be available.”

On the day PC Goss will be joined by colleagues from the Community Safety Department and officers from Cheshire Constabulary Community Safety.

“Llandegla Forest is a popular destination for cyclists of all abilities and of all ages from across the country. The advice we will be giving is relevant to everyone and we hope that people will take a few minutes to come and see us.”
