Lionel Richie has said he is cancelling a planned European tour due to the pandemic, meaning Wrexham’s gig will no longer go ahead in June.

The singer-songwriter was due to be at the Racecourse Stadium on Thursday 4th June performing some of his biggest hits as part of his 2020 tour. Wrexham’s gig was listed as part of his UK tour, with dates in Belfast, Scarborough and Newport to follow shortly after in June.

In a message posted to social media Mr Richie said,

Dear Fans,

Out of respect for the safety and well-being of the fans, band, crew and event organizers and due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it is confirmed that my European tour will no longer take place in 2020. Every consideration has been given but with the subsequent governmental rulings it is no longer possible to undertake the tour.

Efforts are being made to reschedule these dates to take place in the summer of 2021 and a full list of the new dates will be shared shortly, but in the meantime please visit the individual festival/event websites for further information.

Stay safe & healthy! See you in 2021!
Lionel

There is no further update on ticketing, or rescheduling at this point.
