An update on the works taking place next week on the A55 / A483 ‘pinch point’ scheme has been released.

The pinch point roadworks, which began back in September will see the northbound section of the B5445 between Rake Lane and the A483 closed from Monday 24th November.

As a result of the roadworks changes to the Sapphire Bus Service between Wrexham and Chester have also been made. More information on the bus routes here.

Balfour Beatty Mott MacDonald (BBMM) is responsible for managing and maintaining the motorway and trunk road network in Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and South Lancashire on behalf of the Highways Agency. BBMM is delivering a pinch point scheme at the A55 to address existing problems with congestion at its junction with the A483 that results in significant queues and delays at peak times.

A large section of this scheme is to remove the roundabout junction of the A483/B5445 at Pulford and replace it with a signalised T-junction. A new footbridge for shared use by cyclists and pedestrians will also be constructed adjacent to the west bridge.

Listed below is an update on works taking place on the A55 / A483 scheme from w/c 24 November 2014:

– From Monday 24th November the northbound section of the B5445 between Rake Lane and the A483 will be closed and there will be no access from B5445 to A483 until 23rd December. There will also be no access from the A483 Northbound to the A483 during these dates. Signed diversions will be in place.
– From Monday 24th November the right-hand turn from A483 Southbound in to Rough Hill Lane will open.
– From Monday 24th November the dedicated left hand turn from A483 Southbound into B5445 will be open.
– From Monday 24th November to Friday 28th November the A483 will be closed overnight in both directions from 21:00 – 05.00. Signed diversions will be in place.
– From Friday 28th November to Saturday 29th the A483 will be closed overnight in both directions from 21:00 – 07.00. Signed diversions will be in place.
