An elderly man has died following a house fire in Holt.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service was called to a report of the fire at a property in Castle Mews, Holt, Wrexham at just after 9pm on Tuesday 12th November.

Two appliances from Wrexham were sent to the incident and crews used two sets of breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to tackle the fire.

The body of a man, believed to be in his 80s, was found inside the property by firefighters.

An elderly woman made it out of the property after being alerted by a working smoke alarm. She was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

The cause of the fire will be the subject of a joint investigation by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police.
