Update: In the latest update on the BT status, which is being relayed to customers of third party providers, it could take until late Tuesday morning before a fix is in place for the mystery issue that has left a large part of Wrexham town without internet and telephone data services today.

No detail has yet been released by Openreach or providers of the underlying cause of the outage. BT have however modified their fix expected time to “Tue 31/05/2022 at 11:45AM”.

Many residents have been in touch noting full disconnection of their residential and business internet connections, along with 4 and 5G failure on mobile phones.

We have asked BT & Openreach for comment.

Update: BT are offering three status updates for the same issue, “Sorry we can’t provide a fix date at the moment. Please check again later.” and a fix date of “Mon 30/05/2022 at 14:40” as well as “Sun 29/05/2022 at 19:23” (tonight).

Original information below…

Internet and 4G services in parts of Wrexham are suffering an outage today.

The issue appears related to the northern area of town, with 4G mobile data services also affected.

BT have said “We’re sorry about the problem – we’re working on fixing it” with an estimated fix time of 6pm.

Users of other providers have also reported issues, suggesting a wider infrastructure issue rather than a single provider outage.

More updates when we have them….
