Iceland look set to move from Queens Square despite official denials just a week ago.

The 6000 square foot unit that is currently occupied by the Iceland frozen food supermarket has been listed as ‘To Let’ due to ‘relocation’ of the store.

In documents released on propertypilot.co.uk it states: “The premises occupy a prominent position on the pedestrianised Rhosddu Road. Nearby operations include BHS, Cafe Nero, British Heart Foundation, Natwest’.

The rent of the property is also revealed, with the documents listing it as £73,000 per annum exclusive of Rates, VAT and all other outgoings. The documents go onto add under ‘Tenure’ that the: ‘premises are held for a term of 15 years from 24th June 2007 with a rent review in June 2016’.

It’s been locally rumoured for many months that Iceland were planning on relocating to the now vacant Brantano store on Island Green, with it being all but an open secret.

Last week we reported that the Brantano shoe shop was approaching the end of its closing down sale, fueling the rumours that Iceland were planning on moving into the unit.

However a spokesperson for Iceland told us they had no plans to relocate at present and that the town centre store would remain open.

There is an ongoing thread on our forums regarding the possible move to the old Brantano store.
