Hundreds March Against Plans to Axe One of Wrexham’s Fire Engines
Hundreds of campaigners turned out in force this morning to march against controversial plans to axe one of Wrexham’s fire engines.
Starting at 11am from Island Green, it is thought up to 500 people took part in the march through the streets of the town centre.
Led by the Cambria Band the march took campaigners down Brook Street, Hill Street and Regent Street before finishing at Queen’s Square.

Today’s march comes as a result of controversial plans put forward by North Wales and Rescue Authority to scrap one of Wrexham’s whole-time fire engines.
It is estimated 24 firefighter jobs would also be lost if the fire engine was scrapped.
The march is the second to take place through Wrexham in recent months.

The Fire Authority is asking the public to give their views on proposals which include cutting one of Wrexham’s fire engines to leave just one covering the whole town and surrounding areas. The consultation comes to an end on December 12th and you can register your views here.
