“Human excrement on streets” after another storm causes flooding in Wrexham area
Councillors have called for urgent action after flash floods left human excrement on residential streets.
Cllr Annette Davies, Plaid Cymru councillor for Gwersyllt West, said her road had been flooded three times in the past month: “Today’s flash floods have meant raw sewage on the street. It stinks and you can see wet wipes and human excrement on the road. The flooding is washing away the road and we need to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
Other areas affected including parts of Caia Park, where Cllr Carrie Harper said the lack of a swift response to flooded properties was a worry: “There’s a history of flooding in parts of Caia Park and the lack of preparedness bothers me. Where were the sandbags to prevent properties being flooded? We’re meant to have a flood defence plan for exactly this kind of scenario but residents are being fobbed off by the council’s out-of-hours response.
“I must praise the fire brigade, who did respond quickly in my patch. Firefighters said blocked drains were contributing to the problem in Cefndre.”
Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Environment at Wrexham Council has said “Staff from the Environment Department are busy responding to numerous reports of flooding and are working with partners in the emergency services. I am grateful for their efforts and prompt responses.”
Police have also said they are still responding to incidents, “Road Disruption on Bangor Road Johnstown, police at scene trying to assist, location is underneath the railway line, both roads will be closed for some time”

Deja vu, less than 3 weeks since the last flood New Broughton is flooded again. It doesn’t help when cars & buses drive through causing large waves. Local garage service pits 7ft deep filled up again. Residents scared whenever heavy rainfall. @wrexham pic.twitter.com/irwaytmn9I
