The councillor for Maesydre, Paul Jones, has resigned it has been announced.

Wrexham Council Labour Group leader Cllr Dana Davies said: “Paul Jones has stepped down from his role as county councillor for Maesydre for family reasons.”

“Paul has been a superb local representative and will be a huge loss to his ward and to the Wrexham Labour Group. He leaves with our sincere gratitude and very best wishes and we fully understand and appreciate that family comes first, particularly in the current climate. I am sure these sentiments will be echoed by the residents of Maesydre.”

“Until a by-election can be called, Cllr Adrienne Jeorrett and I will be taking on Paul’s responsibilities for Maesydre and invite local residents to contact us at any time. Council Leader Mark Pritchard spoke of the resignation news this lunchtime, “Paul is a credible, sincere, genuine person and he will be sadly missed.”

“I always found him to be a good guy, I felt he was one for the future and was a new councillor cutting his teeth. He is a big loss.”

“I wish him the very best in what he choses to do in life.”
