HMP Berwyn prison officer and inmate to appear in court

A prison officer and a serving inmate at HMP Berwyn will appear in court next month.

In a statement released today by North West Regional Organised Crime Unit say that on Wednesday 30 January 2018, 26-year-old prison officer Emily Watson from Huddersfield was arrested at HMP Berwyn on suspicion of Misconduct in a Public Office.

On Friday 9 February 2018, 29-year-old John McGee – a serving inmate at HMP Berwyn – was arrested on suspicion of Possessing prohibited articles.

Following an extensive investigation, Watson and McGee were subsequently charged with these offences and will jointly appear at Mold Crown Court on Monday 11 March 2019.
