Hafren Dyfrdwy helps spread some Christmas cheer with charity donations in Wrexham

Teams from local water company, Hafren Dyfrdwy, have been busy helping to spread a little Christrmas cheer by donating items to local charities in time for Christmas.

The company donated and delivered essential items to Wrexham based domestic violence charity, DASU, and Wrexham Foodbank, in the hope they can help make a difference to those who need it.

Children’s pyjama’s, socks, toiletries, washing powder, gift sets, towels, facecloths, food and much more were donated by the teams in Wrexham before the country went into lockdown.

Katie Wood, External Relationship Officer at Hafren Dyfrdwy said: “We know that Christmas can be a particularly tricky time for many, and with everything that’s happened this year, especially with the most recent lockdown over Christmas, we know that this year will be especially hard for lots of our customers.

“That’s why we knew we wanted to do something for our community, so our teams in our Wrexham offices brought in some donations to give to two local charities, that are doing incredible work supporting our customers over Christmas. We hope that the donations, especially the children’s gifts and clothes will help bring a little Christmas cheer this year.”

Sally Ellinson, Project Manager at Wrexham Foodbank added: “Thank you so much for your donation of 41kg. We really appreciate the support which will help us to continue to provide food and toiletries for local people in crisis. We aim to continue to meet the rising need in the year ahead whilst campaigning for change so that we can hopefully one day live in a country where Foodbanks are not needed.”

Naomi Mumba-Dobson, Head of Services at DASU North Wales said: “DASU staff and clients are very grateful for the support and generosity of the staff at Hafren Dyfrdwy. The Domestic Abuse Safety Unit (DASU) North Wales continues to operate a 24/7 service for Women, Men and their children affected by Domestic Abuse. DASU’s services are available throughout the Christmas period in Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham and they are able to offer advice, support, advocacy and refuge accommodation. Specialist case workers are continuing to offer telephone and online support to existing and new clients and all services remain available during this difficult time.”

Earlier this year, Hafren Dyfrdwy also donated £30,000 to support local community and charity groups on the front line fighting coronavirus to groups across Wrexham and Powys.
