FOCUS Wales say they are thrilled to be working alongside SXSW to present an exciting show in Wrexham during Independent Venue Week, which takes place next Friday 1st February at The Live Rooms, Wrexham featuring three Welsh acts.

FOCUS organisers say: “In what is challenging times for independent music venues, with the number of such venues facing closure rising throughout Wales and the UK, we want to support and celebrate this important North Wales new music venue, and the 3 exciting Welsh acts playing on the night.

“Venues such as The Live Rooms in Wrexham are often the first venues to give artists their first experience of playing live in front of an audience, and for fans, somewhere to get up close to artists that one day, may well be playing stadiums and festival main stages.”

The Wrexham show will feature performances from two of the nation’s most hotly tipped artists GALLOPS and KIDSMOKE, who will both be flying the flag for Wales at SXSW festival in Austin, Texas this March. The bands will be joined by much hyped newcomers GLOVE, who have been taken under the wing of the award winning author and music journalist John Robb.

Independent Venue Week brings together venues along with breaking and established artists, promoters, labels, media, bloggers and tastemakers to create a nationwide series of gigs. These venues are the backbone of the live music scene and Independent Venue Week wants to recognise all that they have done to create some of the most memorable nights of the past so they can continue to do the same in the future.
