Wrexham Council have announced free parking across all car parks owned by them for the upcoming food and drink festival.

Visitors to the revamped two day event on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September will not only have the chance to enjoy the great food and drink the festival has to offer, but also take advantage of the free parking over the two day period.

Free parking will be available in the following car parks over the weekend:

– Tŷ Pawb
– Crescent Road
– Library
– Market Street
– St George’s Crescent
– St Giles
– Waterworld

Commenting on the free parking decision, Cllr David A Bithell, lead member for environment and transport, said: “It’s important that we support town centre events and encourage visitors to come and enjoy what Wrexham has to offer.

“The Food Festival is always a popular event and I hope free parking will encourage even more to enjoy themselves.”

In April it was announced that the festival would be undergoing a ‘reboot’ and would be returning to Llwyn Isaf at the end of summer ‘bigger and better’ than ever before.

As well as bringing together a diverse range of food and drink stalls, this year will also feature live entertainment, food challenges and a Bierkeller’ marquee complete with its very own oompah band.

This year the festival is being organised by a team of local businesses and organisations who have years of experience in the food, drink and events industry.

Town centre businessmen Alex Jones of The Bank and Plât Bach and the Lemon Tree’s Sam Regan are heading up the event, along with support by the “This is Wrexham” team and famous local brands including King Street Coffee and Wrexham Lager.

Alex Jones, on behalf of the organisers, said: “We thank the council for offering this great incentive of free parking for the Weekend of the food festival.

“It promises to be a fabulous weekend. We have the Tent, we have the exhibitors, we have free parking now we need the weather. Thank you once again to the lead member and the team.”

Ahead of the big event in September, potential traders and vendors interested in finding out more / getting involved with the food festival are being invited to a special event at Tŷ Pawb on Thursday 28th June.

Taking place from 6:30pm, the event will consist an informal get together to discuss all aspects of the upcoming event and how to get involved and secure your pitches.

In true food and drink festival fashion, there will even be some refreshments and food supplied by the team Plât Bach within Tŷ Pawb.

Chris Nelson from Woody’s Pizza, who is also involved in the organisation of the food festival said: “Potential vendors and exhibitors interested in finding out more about the event should pop along to our informal gathering at Tŷ Pawb on Thursday – all are welcome.”

Welcoming the revamped food festival, Cllr Mark Pritchard, Leader of the Council, said: “We have met with organisers and worked with them over the last couple of months to support them, their use of Llwyn Isaf and free parking for the two days.

“Wrexham should be proud of this event and I hope it is successful and call on everyone to go along and support this annual Food Festival.”

The This is Wrexham Food & Drink Festival will take place on Llwyn Isaf on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23d September.
