Former nursery to be demolished to make way for new housing
A former Wrexham nursery is to be demolished to make way a small housing development.
Committee members backed plans for the Scallywags Day Nursery site on the Wrexham Industrial Estate, earlier this week.
The plans include the demolition of the building and the development of six new homes.
In the initial planning documents the applicants had described the disused building as “being subject to vandalism”, with scattered content of a storage building “all over the site”.
The plans had been opposed by the local community council, which says it “objects to the application on the basis of traffic conflict, road safety and access to a narrow road used regularly for the Post Office.
However chief planning, Lawrence Isted had recommended the application be approved, stating: “The principle of development is considered to be acceptable and a development of the type proposed is considered could sit comfortably in this location without detriment to visual or residential amenities.”
Committee members voted unanimously in favour of the recommendation to grant the plans.
