Huge crowds descended on the town today to enjoy day one of the Wrexham Food and Drink Festival.
Kicking off at 10am this morning, the event was officially opened by Wrexham AM and Welsh Government Minister Lesley Griffiths, chief executive of Wrexham Council Ian Bancroft, council leader Mark Pritchard and food festival organisers Sam Regan and Jo Smith.
With more than 80 exhibitors to choose from, thousands of visitors turned out to enjoy the tasty offerings, live entertainment and to bask in the early September sunshine.

Taking place in a giant marquee on Llwyn Isaf / the Library Field in town, traders selling everything from cheeses, cakes, fudge, custom made crafts, pickles, pies, sausages, Thai cuisine (to name but a few!) have been selling their goods to the public.
Outside the marquee visitors have the chance to sit down and enjoy freshly cooked food, including street food, burgers, cheese steak sandwiches, falafel, chips, vegetarian food, pizza, Wrexham Lager, gin, prosecco and much more.
Speaking at this morning’s launch, Lesley Griffiths AM said: “It’s great to see so many Welsh food and drink producers here, many of them are from Wrexham and North East Wales.
“As the minister, promoting Welsh food and drink its a really easy job to do and it’s great to see people here not just from Wrexham and the North East of Wales but the whole of Wales.
“There’s a company here from Neath, who I’m actually visiting this week who have worked in collaboration with other companies here in Wrexham.
“It’s good to see food and drink producers not seeing each other as competition but really wanting to collaborate together; not just in having different ingredients in their products from around Wales, but at a mentoring level.
“I hope it’s a very successful two days and I’m sure it will be.
“It’s really good to be here as the minister promoting Wrexham, my local town and the wonderful food and drink we have here.”
There’s also the chance to enjoy some live entertainment, with an Oompah Band and local musicians and dance troops entertaining the crowds throughout the day.
Elsewhere on the site are live cookery demos with some top local chefs and fairground rides for children to enjoy.
Tonight’s event will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display just before 9pm.
The Wrexham Food and Drink Festival will open again tomorrow between 10am and 6pm. There is also free parking in all council car parks after 10am and excluding Ty Pawb.
